Miss K’s embraces her dark side.

It didn’t go as planned. Thank god.

Miss K is a good friend of mine and wanted to get a session in with me before I leave. I couldn’t say yes fast enough and we immediately set a date and time for our boudoir session. We made plans for images that we thought would show her off.  Good thing I don’t stick with them.

It became apparent that the session wasn’t firing on all eight cylinders. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, mind you, it was just that nothing made either of us go “ohhh” when we looked at the images on the back of my camera. We were doing the light and airy kind of images that I call “Light Side” boudoir. They were nice and all but there just wasn’t a connection to the style and the subject.

Even Miss K said she just wasn’t feeling it. So, I called a time out. We sat down, right in the middle of the set, and had a heart to heart. It was then that Miss K voiced her inner demon. She said she just didn’t feel as though she was pretty enough recently. I won’t go into the whole backstory here but that was the essence.

I looked at her, I mean I really looked hard at her and realized something. I saw this dark, sensual beast that would just eat alive one of the standard “Light Side” subjects. I told her this. She wasn’t soft, I said. She was a savage. I asked her if she felt that, deep down. She said yes. I said “Then let’s use it in the time we have left.”

Her reaction when I showed her the very next shot changed everything. “I look hot!!!!”, she exclaimed. Yes, yes she did. The transformation was swift and amazing. Suddenly there was this amazing, sultry, seductress that just pulled my camera in and wouldn’t let go.

The moral of this story? Don’t go against your inner self. Embrace who you are and let it shine for all the world to see or, at the very least, my camera. You will never, ever be disappointed.

Miss W’s first boudoir session.

My first holiday boudoir session of 2017 and the introduction of the curtain of lights.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The temperature is dropping, Christmas lights are going up, and holiday boudoir sessions are in full swing. Miss W certainly got into the spirit of things with her recent yule-inspired boudoir session.

This year I’m introducing something new. I’m calling it the curtain of lights. If you know me, you know I’m all about the magical glow of Christmas lights. If I could, I’d leave them up all year. This might actually give me the opportunity to do just that.

Miss W was gracious enough to allow me to test out my idea during our session. I was so stunned by the results that I immediately ran out and bought more of them as soon as we were done. How much more? Well, let’s just say that I have achieved Clark Griswold levels as I’ve popped the circuit breaker a couple times already.

The results were amazing. I got several shots that I’ve never gotten before. The backdrop of sparkling, warm, luminous glow complimented Miss W perfectly. She was amazing. The session was light hearted and fun with hints of naughtiness that might have made Santa recheck his list.

So many ideas were generated by the session that we’ve already decided to go again to try and capture them. I actually went back out a third time to get more items to try those out as well. I’m seriously tempted to do ugly Christmas sweater shots, for example.

I still offer the other boudoir styles found here, by the way. We can do Light Side, Dark Side or a mix of the two. The holiday spin is just another layer of playtime that I offer. Whichever way you want to play, contact me today for your holiday session.

Shawna’s Virginia Beach boudoir session.

“Doing a boudoir session should be something you choose to do for yourself.” – Shawna.

Every boudoir photography site I’ve seen always starts out with the premise that you should do a boudoir session “for that special someone.” Well, you know what? I’m going to buck against that. You know what I think? I think the most important reason why a woman should consider doing a boudoir session is to do it for themselves.

You DO matter, you ARE worth it, and you ABSOLUTELY deserve it. Empower yourself.

Miss M’s first boudoir session.

She wanted a pick-me-up after a breakup but I ended up being humbled by the experience.

I’ve known Miss M for a while on social media. We started chatting online one day after she made a post about women and cars that I agreed with and we started a conversation. That discussion opened the door to another photo session that should be coming along shortly. Stay tuned for that.

During one chat she said she loved my boudoir work and was thinking of doing a session. She came out of a relationship recently and wanted to do something that would raise her spirits. Doing this would help her out.

Susie submits to her sensual side again.

She embraces my concept of what boudoir is all about.

Susie is what I would consider perfect. She is strong, independent, confident, fearless, and gives zero thought to what you think of her. She embraces exactly who she is, mentally and physically, and relishes it. She is a dynamo of sensuality.

When we team up, everything is on the table. She owns the place without hesitation and dares me to keep up. I have a hard time doing so but I try my best. At the end of our sessions I am exhausted, mentally and physically, but I know I have pushed my boundaries past anything I’ve done before.

I am a better photographer and person because of her and people like her.

One thing every woman should bring to a boudoir session.

A corset is one of the most fabulous, versatile things that enhances every body type.

What is old is new again. I absolutely love it when a client pulls out one or more beautiful corsets for their sessions. Let’s talk about why you should have at least one yourself.

Obviously, they are designed to make the wearer look great. They enhance the hourglass shape by making your waist look slimmer and tummy appear flatter. The overbust ones enhance the bustline. They are popularly used to get a body back to it’s pre-pregnancy shape. At the very least wear the corset to just feel sexy and glamorous.
