Shawna’s Virginia Beach boudoir session.

“Doing a boudoir session should be something you choose to do for yourself.” – Shawna.

Every boudoir photography site I’ve seen always starts out with the premise that you should do a boudoir session “for that special someone.” Well, you know what? I’m going to buck against that. You know what I think? I think the most important reason why a woman should consider doing a boudoir session is to do it for themselves.

You DO matter, you ARE worth it, and you ABSOLUTELY deserve it. Empower yourself.

Just a quick update today.

The holiday season is in full swing but there’s still time to get a session in.

Today’s entry is going to be short as crunch time is here. Between working and the business there’s just not enough time in a day. I know you know what I’m talking about as I’m sure you’re just as busy. So, to answer some questions:

Yes, I’m still alive.

Yes, I’m still doing sessions. As most of the people I work with do not want their images posted online I am limited in what I can show here. That’s why today I’m posting images from a recent session with a familiar face, my great, beautiful, totally chill, friend Sarah. As always, I received clearance before doing so.

Miss F’s recent sensual session.

Exploring the Dark Side further with fine art form.

Oh how this is getting so very exciting.

When I started my photographic journey in earnest decades ago I found myself firmly in the realm of black and white fine art nude and form. My first solo show was heavily weighed towards this genre not to mention my BFA graduation portfolio. An example of that work was awarded the President’s Award and now is part of the permanent collection of SUNY Oswego.

Heads up, Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads.

I’m heading back tomorrow and primed to do more sensual sessions.

Today is my last full day in central NY. Three weeks flew by so fast.

I’m re-energized and inspired to try new ideas. I’ll be back tomorrow and ready to rock out more sensual, boudoir, nudoir, bridal, maternity, baby bonding, nude, form, erotic, bondage, couples, and bdsm, at my place, your place, a suite at a high end hotel, or out on location like downtown, a farm, and more.

I am proud and thrilled to announce the return of the popular sunRISE beach sessions for those looking for something a bit more edgy. No one is around at that time so we can get quite a bit more daring. It’s not for everyone but it is something special for those willing to take a chance.

The big misconception and the birth of a new concept.

“I’d love to do a session with you but I’m not as pretty as the models on your site.”

I’ve heard that comment more than a few times and it has been on my mind a lot of late. It has gotten to the point of radically shifting the way I work and given birth to a new campaign. Lets talk.

First of all let me just state that 85% of the woman on this site are not professional models. They are regular women, with jobs, and a lot have families of their own. They have never been in front of a professional photographer’s camera. They don’t know what to expect when they initially reach out to me.

Can you go through the images on this site and point out the occasional professional model? Can you find the moms of one, two or more children? Do the grandmas on this page leap out to you?

Even better. Can you point out the ones that have concerns about their current body style/shape? The ones that wish they were 10, 15, 20+ pounds lighter? The ones that are worried about their stretch marks showing? That wished these were bigger and that was smaller? The ones that lament the fact that they were 5’1 and not 5’10? Too many freckles? Scars? Wrinkles around their eyes and mouth? A Romanesque nose that stood out when they were in profile? A crooked, lopsided smile? Ears that stick out? The ones who were decades past their 18th birthday?

No? Well, that was a bit of a trick question because they all had one or more of those concerns. Every single person that I’ve worked with in my 25-plus years as a photographer have had concerns about their appearance. Every. Single. One. Let that sink in for a moment.

Mary Helen’s first maternity session.

Keeping it natural, simple, and light.

Mary Helen is no stranger to these pages as we have combined forces several times in the past. She has been on the road a lot this past year or else you’d be seeing a lot more of her. I truly cherish every chance I can get to work with her. So, when she said she was going to be in town for a few days there was no doubt that we would join up again.

But this time there was a twist. You can figure it out yourself by looking at the resulting images.

I love, love, LOVE working with expecting moms. There is a special air about them that is magical. That glow just adds to the effect with my style of luminous portraits. It also dove-tails nicely with my desire to show that all women are beautiful and deserve to be immortalized that way.
