The holiday season is in full swing but there’s still time to get a session in.
Today’s entry is going to be short as crunch time is here. Between working and the business there’s just not enough time in a day. I know you know what I’m talking about as I’m sure you’re just as busy. So, to answer some questions:
Yes, I’m still alive.
Yes, I’m still doing sessions. As most of the people I work with do not want their images posted online I am limited in what I can show here. That’s why today I’m posting images from a recent session with a familiar face, my great, beautiful, totally chill, friend Sarah. As always, I received clearance before doing so.

Privacy is a top priority when it comes to sensual sessions.
Tis the busy season for boudoir photographers across the globe. Between now and Valentines Day people are looking for unique, personal gifts for their significant others, for a friend, or as a gift for themselves. Boudoir sessions check off all the boxes on that list and more.
That being said, it’s also the time for privacy concerns. A lot people don’t want their images on display for the world to see. The photos generated by a session are generally for a certain person’s eyes only. This is totally understandable. I honestly would say a good 50-60% of the sessions I do are never meant to be uploaded here.
That’s why there’s gaps between entries here, by the way.
This is a topic of discussion I have with every client before the session. I want to be clear with them that they are in control of everything. They control what we shoot, where we shoot, how long we shoot, and – most importantly – what happens to the images after the session is done.

Women like her are exactly why I do this.
People always ask me what I get out of doing sensual sessions like the one here I recently did with Mrs. K. The answer is simple – simple, deep fulfillment.
These (mostly) women come to me full of hope and doubt. They know they want to be shown in a certain way. Which way is something we discuss beforehand. They also come with concerns and uncertainty. This is also something we discuss beforehand. We build a personal game plan together that shows them off in the best possible way.
Then they put their trust and faith into me to present them with images that show that themselves off. I can’t stress enough just how important this responsibility is. I literally have the ability to build up someone’s self image or confirm their worst fears. It is something that I never treat lightly.

Sometimes the universe aligns just right and the results are stellar.
Wow. Just wow. I am literally at a loss for words with these images.
The recent decision to incorporate the dark with the light has seem to strike a nerve. The response I’ve received, from messages, emails, private chats, et cetera, has been a bit overwhelming in a good way.
And then, as if a sign from a higher power, Susie reaches out to me out of nowhere and says she would like to do a session. Sight unseen I agreed. The way she talked about herself and her personality had me hooked almost immediately. We agreed to play on the Dark side and the Light side.

Leaving something to the imagination, in my opinion, is key.
One of the things I try to avoid during these sessions is to show everything in these images. I mean this in two ways.
The first, more obvious way is that I don’t believe in showing everything a woman has to offer. Once that is seen, then the interest in the subject dwindles perilously. That’s the main problem I have with Playboy and it’s ilk. After the third image, you’ve seen it all and the following images aren’t as interesting so you kinda flip through them with significantly less enthusiasm.
Yes, I shoot nudes, if that is what the client wants. Yes, they can be full monty in front of me – again, if they want. But even then, given the choice, I will choose to compose the image accordingly. I like leaving an air of mystery, a yearning to see more, and the tantalizing aspect of thinking you’re seeing something or about to see something but you’re not.

Stay in this business long enough you’ll find yourself coming back to the starting point.
When I was first dipping my toes into the world of fine art photography over 14 years ago I developed a style that was dramatic, contrasty, and dark. Someone compared my work of the human form to the stylings of Edward Weston. I took that will a large grain of satisfaction.
Over the intervening years I tried my hand at a lot of different styles and genres. When I first started to do boudoir five years ago I defaulted back to the world of dark and contrasty images with an air of mystery. Heavily influenced by Film Noir, in fact. When trying something new it makes sense to go to something you know to ease the transition, I figured. It was one thing I knew so I could spend more energy developing new poses, compositions, et cetera.
Then about two years ago I started working on a new look. Luminous, light, ethereal lighting to envelope the subject. Make them angelic, even. I was very proud of this and it was welcomed by the community.
But the dark side is never, ever far from the surface. It’s in my blood. It sings to me in ways others cant. It’s a siren’s song that pulls at me to come back with open arms. A craving, if I am to be totally open about such things.

I’m heading back tomorrow and primed to do more sensual sessions.
Today is my last full day in central NY. Three weeks flew by so fast.
I’m re-energized and inspired to try new ideas. I’ll be back tomorrow and ready to rock out more sensual, boudoir, nudoir, bridal, maternity, baby bonding, nude, form, erotic, bondage, couples, and bdsm, at my place, your place, a suite at a high end hotel, or out on location like downtown, a farm, and more.
I am proud and thrilled to announce the return of the popular sunRISE beach sessions for those looking for something a bit more edgy. No one is around at that time so we can get quite a bit more daring. It’s not for everyone but it is something special for those willing to take a chance.
