She was in Virginia Beach for a weekend and wanted new images for her businesses and her herself.
Kristin and I have a history. I’m not exaggerating when I say that she was instrumental in making who I am today as a portrait photographer. You can read about that here. She was in town recently and wanted new images done for a variety of reasons. That included, for the first time with me, boudoir images.
The catch was that they only time she was available was Sunday morning before 8am and it had to be done at her oceanfront hotel room.
I love, love, LOVE working on location for a variety of reasons and will always jump at the chance to do so. So I got up at 5am and made the trip to the oceanfront. Kristin, ever the trooper, got up at 430 to start prep.
She, as always, was stunning. You know you’re doing it right when you forget to breath while taking certain pictures. The vision in your viewfinder is so amazing that all of your attention is on that and you don’t realize that you’re not breathing until you start to get woozy.
I was lightheaded for the entire two hours.
At the end, we realized that we simply had to get a couple shots done on the beach. It was an atypical cold, windy morning at the beach but we figured why the hell not? So we dashed outside, ran across the sand and set up shop. She was ever the professional, freezing her tail off until I got the light right. Once I did, though, it was go time.
And, boy, did she go. She made it seem like it was a balmy 90 degrees. People walking by on the boardwalk, all bundled up against the damp, cold wind, stared at us. She owned the moment and was amazing. Then we ran like hell to get back inside to warm up and say our good-byes.
I’ll end this entry with words from Kristin.
Mark is a lighting master, visual artist, and editing pro. Basically, every woman’s dream!
He understands the science and art of lighting so he can make you look your best. He gives direct and helpful assistance with posing and moving so you get the best angles and expressions. I’ve shot with over 500 photographers and, as a professional model, know that many photographers are not helpful in that realm.
Mark loves his craft and that shines through in the photoshoot and in his correspondence before and after the shoot. I appreciate how he takes the clients goals and concerns to heart. I haven’t shot in a bathing suit on the beach in many years. Mark made me feel at ease and excited during the session. I am thrilled with and love these images.
